5. Grantha Visharada Post Graduate Examination

 

1. The methodologies adopted in conducting the Grantha Visharada Post Graduate Examination

For the Grantha Visharada Degree:

Should Compose

1. A research thesis or

2. An edition of a Classical Book or

3. Creation of poetry composition by himself

   1.1 In the case of a Research Thesis is should be about 200 type written pages

   1.2 Number of pages does not apply in the case of edition of a classical book

   1.3 Regarding a poetry composition it should have not less than 400 poems of varying rhythms

 

2. Study procedure and evaluation criteria

   2.1 Should be engaged in the activities relating to compilation of Thesis within the period prescribed for the      Grantha Visharada Degree based on a approval plan

   2.2 The said thesis should be composed under the guidance of an Instructor/examiner nominated by the Education Board.

   2.3 A concise report showing the progress of the thesis should be produced, by the candidates once in six months, to the Education Boards through the Instructor concerned.

   2.4 After the submission of the thesis, it will be forwarded for survey to two surveyors and results all be issued with the approval by the committee based on such reports and recommendations made by the Education Board.

 

3. Thesis Format and Guidance

   3.1 Three (3) copies of the Thesis should be forwarded being clearly type written or after Computer Type Setting

   3.2 Thesis should be copied under the following stipulations

            1. Page size should be A4 (279mm-210 mm) In the event of maps and diagrams being larger than the size of the page should be folded in a suitable size without damaging the content of the document

            2. A blank space of not less than 40mm should be kept on the left side of each page

            3. Page should be numbered

            4. Each copy of the thesis should be bounded by a blank plasti outer cover

   3.3 Requirements which should contain in a Research Thesis/Book, in general (in order)

            1. Page having the Title of the book - Subject - Name of Under Graduate, The text reading as "Thesis  submitted for the Grantha Visharada Degree Examination of the Oriental Studies Society" and Year.

            2. Contents - Generally the following items should be included with page numbers

                        1. List of codes

                        2. Preface, Access, other information in the Thesis, Chapters included, commendation for assistance, etc.

                        3. Maps, Graphs, Diagrams, Tables etc. (if available)

                        4. Appendix/ Annexures etc. (if available)

                        5. Source books and list of articles

                        6. Epilogue

3. The research thesis (Finally Approved) should be in accordance with the approved plan  and prepared adopting a standard academic system and as approved by the instructor (if there are parts) such parts should be separately indicated as chapters and sub paragraphs

4. When themre are several appendicies/Annexures they should be numbered as 1,2 etc.

5. The list of source books and articles should be indicated with the relevant information, based on a standard academic system and with the approval of the instructor

6. Epilogue

     Observation notes can be given in the form of foots notes or texts or notes at the end of chapters and here too specific academic systems should be adopted with the approval of instructor.

4. Degree Examination Fees

            Counseling fees           Rs. 3000.00

            Fees for examination    Rs. 1000.00
